Faith Kimberling holds a B.A. in English literature from Bucknell University, graduate credits in Dance Education from SUNY Empire State./92nd StY/Dance Education Lab (DEL), and recently completed Corvino Children’s ballet pedagogy workshops. She currently dances for Mark Bankin Dance Theatre, Loretta Thomas and Putnam County Dance Project. From 2006-2021 Faith danced with Lori Belilove and the Isadora Duncan Dance company dancing solo and ensemble roles in NYC, internationally, and around the country in addition to teaching company class and lecture demonstration performances about Isadora in public schools.
She also choreographed for, coached and taught the Beliloveables, the children’s performing company of the Isadora Duncan Dance Foundation. Before and concurrently, Faith danced 17 years with White Wave:Young Soon Kim Dance Company, enjoying performances locally and in China, Korea, and Inner Mongolia. Other companies include CEule Dance, Pilobolous creative services, and many regional and New York musical theater productions. Faith also teaches creative dance to underserved NYC public school kids as a Dance Teaching Artist with Mark DeGarmo Dance and teaches creative dance, Modern/Duncan technique, hiphop, preballet and ballet to ages 3-adult at the YMCA and at Bridge for Dance. Faith lives in Manhattan with her husband, two daughters and a cute schnoodle dog.
Class Descriptions
Basic ballet for Seniors:
In this basic ballet class for older adults, special attention will be paid to finding balance and correct alignment in addition to incorporating musical phrasing and performance qualities. The class will include barre and center, a waltz combination, and/or basic jumps, all of which can be modified to your needs.
Isadora Duncan Master class Open and teen/adult
In this Isadora Duncan open level Master class, students will get an introduction to who Isadora was and her style of dance, which is based on simple movements such as walking,running, skipping, and tossing, embracing freedom of movement and expression. A short phrase will be taught and created using Duncan repertory.
This Creative ballet class will cultivate basic strength, flexibility and coordination for young dancers in addition to dancing with scarves, our imaginations, and each other.
