Viktoria Matveeva was born in Yerevan, Armenia, in 1992. She began her dance education at the age of 7, initially focusing on classical ballet before expanding to folk and Latin American dances. At 14, she was accepted into the State Dance College in Yerevan, where she studied the Vaganova ballet technique, various folk dances, and stage dance. Her interest in guest choreographers led her to pursue choreography at the State Institute of Theater and Cinema in Yerevan.
During her undergraduate and master’s studies, Viktoria created several performances, including “Seven Sins,” “Uprising,” and “The Little Mermaid,” and participated in projects such as Brecht’s “The Threepenny Opera” and “Charenzakan.” From 2014 to 2016, she worked with the “Small Theater-NCA” as an actress and dancer, contributing to the establishment of Armenia’s first „Inclusive Dance Company“ and collaborating with the „Candoco Dance Company“ in London on projects like „Life Path“ and „Ne me quitte pas.“
With a strong interest in modern and contemporary dance, she participated in numerous workshops led by international specialists and moved to Germany to further her education. In 2018, she began studying Dance Pedagogy for modern and contemporary dance at the Palucca University of Dance Dresden, collaborating with choreographers from prominent dance companies such as “Ultima Vez,” “Batsheva Dance Company,” and “The Forsythe Company.” She also choreographed short dance pieces, including „Who am I?“ and „Available.“
Since 2021, Viktoria has been teaching ballet, contemporary, improvisation, and high-heels dance at the DanceEmotion Studio and Academy in Freiburg. In 2023, she took on the role of choreographer at the NEO Dance Company Freiburg.
